Then show up at 6 p.m. Monday at Hood River City Council chambers, for a hearing on the appeal of the city planning commission’s approval of a conditional use permit that would allow Naito Development to move forward with its hotel and office project at the south end of the Nichols Boat Basin. Only the developers and appellants — Friends of the Hood River Waterfront — will be allowed to speak. The council will then consider their comments, and the information that led to the planning commission decision, before deciding whether to approve the decision, or modify it, or deny it. Arrive early; seating is limited. No popcorn or beer will be sold, so bring your own (just kidding). …

Yes, wine lovers are increasingly finding their way to the Gorge, but Bell clearly believes in taking the mountain to Mohammed, as it were…

We reported earlier on the big paving project starting out at Button Junction and stretching south along Oregon 35 past Odell. Well, Grace Su’s China Gorge wants to make sure people keep passing through the snarl to her dining room.
